Why Partnerships?

KWT believes in having a target driven and collective approach which will lead to more effective work in Kenya’s core ecosystems that is better coordinated, and which serves the values and economic interests of a wide array of stakeholders, as well as the nation itself.

In order to achieve this, we strive to develop and strengthen partnerships with grass root organisations who develop and implement conservation initiatives,
government agencies who develop policies and other conservation authorities who offer varied support.

Our Partnership Model

We have a 2-way approach of defining our partners namely:

  • Strategic donor partners

These are organizations and individuals who support our work financially. They are a key pillar to success of our predator conservation efforts.

  • Strategic working partners

These are the organizations with whom we collaborate at different levels to run predator conservation work in Kenya. They range from key regulatory bodies to grassroot predator conservation organizations.

One Mara Research Hub

Currently housed by KWT, The One Mara Research Hub is a new initiative that seeks to drive ‘collective impact’ among the key network of stakeholders in the Greater Mara Ecosystem.

Livelihoods Program (Ufugaji Hifadhi)

KWT began the implementation of a new livelihoods program in partnership with Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA) called Ufugaji Hifadhi. It is currently undertaken in Aitong and its market threshold. The local Maasai name is Eramatare (meaning the practice of livestock production) which relates to Maasai pastoralists’ culture.
